چکیده
Electrodiffusion of ions in both cation (CEM) and anion exchange membranes (AEM) has been studied with theoretical calculations experimental studies. Calculations are based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) using COMSOL Multiphysics® software. Nernst-Planck equations solved multi-ionic systems where no closed form solutions available. Simulations compared laboratory-scale experiments terms current efficiency membrane selectivity. revealed unexpected features transport, due to coupling ionic fluxes when local electroneutrality condition is assumed. Transport weak electrolytes showed importance involving equilibria along concentration profiles membranes, compelling consider constituents. The advantage simulations ease find potential across entire system, split diffusion migration contributions, showing their even absence electric current.

متن کاملElectrodialysis of Blood Using Ion-Exchange Membranes
THE correction of electrolyte imbalance and the removal of retention products of the blood during renal failure is at present achieved by the use of artificial kidneys which permit the diffusion of solutes through a semi-permeable membrane. Several types of apparatus used successfully for hemodialysis include those described by Kolff and Watschinger (1956) and Alwall, Norviit, and Steins (1948)...
متن کاملInfluence of lips on the production of vowels based on finite element simulations and experiments.
Three-dimensional (3-D) numerical approaches for voice production are currently being investigated and developed. Radiation losses produced when sound waves emanate from the mouth aperture are one of the key aspects to be modeled. When doing so, the lips are usually removed from the vocal tract geometry in order to impose a radiation impedance on a closed cross-section, which speeds up the nume...

a novel and ultra low cost isfet electrode and measurement system was designed for isfet application and detection of hydronium, hydrazinium and potassium ions. also, a measuring setup containing appropriate circuits, suitable analyzer (advantech board), de noise reduction elements, cooling system and pc was used for controlling the isfet electrode and various characteristic measurements. the t...
Elastic properties of cellular polypropylene films: Finite element simulations and their comparison with experiments
The Young’s modulus of a two-dimensional truss-like structure is simulated by using the finite element method. A power-law expression is proposed for the effective Young’s modulus of the system. The obtained numerical results are compared with the experimental data of the anisotropic thin cellular polypropylene films. At high solid volume fractions (> 0.4), the average shape of the cells are la...
